I had old pipes replaced with new flexible ducts. Is not that a flexible conduit used for the entire journey of hte a / c?
We replaced the pipes complete in the order of jobs. The A / C is found in a closet in the garage. I went in the attic above the garage and I see that the first is 7 or 8 feet of duct leaving the A / C duct old original box. The new flexible conduit is linked to it. Is this standard? Is there any reason, the new flex pipe is not used for the entire system?
Sounds as the news channel is fixed to a main line. It would be normal if it is a broader concept plenum. Why replace the pipes? Probably leaks joints and crushed or broken. Flexible conduit is a good replacement for that product, because of labor savings for the installation because it is pre-insulated and less to seal the joints. It is also quieter. The negative points with flexible, it is more restrictive because of the stiffening wire into the liner. A focus on calibration methods must be met for good ventilation, usually a larger size if the size of metal ductwork.
