How can I remove mold from my basement?
The mold is black and covers large areas of concrete walls. The corners are almost solid black. We placed an office chair, we were not using in the basement a month ago when we moved, the seat and back of the chair have been developed a greenish, fuzzy-looking mold. I do not want to store anything else in the basement until I can find a way to either get rid mold or make sure it does not grow on it! I do not want to waste an entire basement value of storage space. The space is not good ventilation and it's a house we rent. Any advice?
Mold loves moist air in the dark. Dehumidfy air. Provide UV lamps. It looks like a potentially serious situation. You may want to ensure the mussels you are not the kind life-threatening. Who mold test kits available at Home Depot stores. Installation of dehumidifier to drain through a hose into a floor drain or a sump pump hole. In this way it can operate continuously. (Or at least not stop and wait for someone to empty the bucket.) Mold can spread to the attic and interior walls. More get this problem solved. Good luck.
