Can we enter a room as a home office if you use the closet for clothes?
My husband started his own business this year and had converted a room that was previously used for storage in his home office. This is his principal place of business and it works essentially the entire operation of this room. We intend to seek early home office deduction in March, when his company started. This room is used exclusively for his business, however, we use the closet for storing winter coats and so on. Since we use square feet for this calculation, we simply can not closet area in the calculation of the percent of the house used as an office home? Instead, we only use the size of the office real part of the room? Our finances are well documented and we have nothing to hide. Should we take advantage of tax savings that we are entitled to?
